A Better Tomorrow
Where we fulfill our everyday life needs should be a healthy place. A place that is good for a better everyday life, business and the environment. That’s why, to support LifeCentral, we’ve put in place a new Environmental Social Governance (ESG) program for 2030. We want our Full Service Centers to be low-carbon and less wasteful. We also want to bring positive socio-economic benefits to local communities. Sustainability, we believe, is crucial to attracting customers to our centers.
We’ve called our program A Better Tomorrow. It’s based on three main areas – each with clear ambitions:
A Better Footprint
We’re reducing our carbon footprint through Paris-proof roadmaps, smart energy monitoring, expanded solar capacity and many more initiatives while sourcing 100% green electricity for all common areas.
A Better Nature
Through our Better Nature pillar, we enhance resilience to flooding, heat and heavy rainfall. All our assets are BREEAM In-Use “Very Good” certified, and we continue to expand our 23,000 m² of green roofs and spaces to foster a cooler, healthier environment.
A Better Living
Through our Better Living pillar, we foster inclusion and community well-being. Our centers host local initiatives and dedicate at least 1% of net rental income to social causes — supporting partners like WWF, Red Cross and Too Good To Go.
Sustainable Supplier Code
This Code defines standards for safe and healthy working conditions and environmental responsibility throughout our supply chain. It addresses human and labor rights, health & safety, corruption and environmental issues. It is based on the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, BREEAM-In-Use requirements, and the International Labor Organization (ILO) conventions. Requirements in this Code apply to the whole supply chain. We monitor implementation as part of our day-to-day interactions and regular evaluations with suppliers.
Green Financing Framework
On November 3, 2025, Wereldhave Belgium renewed its Green Financing Framework, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable finance. The updated framework enables green bonds and loans that fund projects with measurable environmental benefits, in line with the ICMA Green Bond Principles (2025) and LMA Green Loan Principles (2025).
By aligning finance with its sustainability goals, Wereldhave Belgium invests in energy efficiency, renewable energy and climate resilience — creating transparent, long-term value for investors, tenants and society.
Our path to carbon neutrality by 2045 – driving energy efficiency and climate action.
We measure our CSR performance against a number of external benchmarks – these benchmarks relate to our environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance.
