How will you impact our organization?
At Wereldhave Belgium, we combine strategic vision with a hands-on mindset — built on collaboration, trust, and accountability. As Legal Counsel, you’ll act as a pragmatic business partner, providing expert legal advice and transactional support across departments such as Leasing, Finance, and Operations. You will report directly to the General Counsel and play a key role in ensuring compliant, efficient, and well-structured real estate transactions and corporate processes.
Your responsibilities as Legal Counsel will include:
Contract management
- Draft, review and negotiate real estate agreements including leasehold, building rights, commercial leases, construction and purchase/sale contracts.
- Align legal documentation with commercial objectives while ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
Transactions & due diligence
- Provide legal support for asset and share deals, mergers, and capital contributions.
- Prepare, coordinate and analyze due diligence documentation and reports.
Internal legal advice
- Offer proactive and practical legal advice to internal teams on operational and strategic matters.
- Deliver solution-driven support that helps the business move forward responsibly.
Legislation & document management
- Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments and translate them into actionable business insights.
- Maintain and update corporate legal records and ensure timely filings and publications.
Corporate housekeeping
- Support the preparation of Board and Shareholder Meetings and related documentation.
- Contribute to corporate governance and financial reporting compliance.
Project coordination & reporting
- Coordinate legal aspects of organizational projects and follow up on action plans.
- Take meeting minutes, track deliverables and assist with internal reporting.
Communication & publications
- Support the review of press releases and corporate website content.
- Ensure all public communication meets legal and reputational standards.
Your profile:
- Master’s degree in Law with 5–8 years of relevant experience (law firm, notary office, or in-house legal role).
- Strong expertise in real estate and corporate law; experience with regulated real estate companies (RREC) and real estate taxation is a plus.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Practical, autonomous, and solution-oriented approach.
- Professional fluency in Dutch, French, and English.
- Precise, discreet, and accountable in your work.
- Comfortable in a fast-moving environment with close ties to the retail sector.
